Last January I received sample cover concepts for my recent book, Patchwork: A Memoir of Love and Loss. Knowing that book covers tell important stories, I studied each closely. One unusual design in particular resonated deeply the first time I saw it. I saw layers of my story in that cover. And, thus, happily I chose the small tree of life, as I experienced it, with heart-shaped leaves.

Months later, I received an opportunity to post a guest blog on Memoir Writer’s Journey, which is Kathleen Pooler’s blog. We talked about topics and decided I’d write about patchwork and how it relates to my book. She’d also publish the first photographs of the quilt I’d recently completed.

Today, I hope you will join me at Kathy’s blog here to see those photos and read that post. Where is the quilt now?  Happily, it is close to me, displayed on my office wall. The heart-shaped leaves keep me aware of the presence of each person who walked with me on my journey. My heart is happy.
